Supported Housing for people who need support moving on.
The WISH (Working for Independence in Supported Housing) project is part of Family Housing Association (Wales) Ltd and has provided a range of supported accommodation for people experiencing mental ill health and receiving Tier 2 services from ABMU since 1989. We have 89 homes in Swansea and 6 homes in Neath Port Talbot where we provide psychologically informed support to the people that use our services in both temporary and long-term homes.
Our team of 100 highly trained staff use our values in their roles every day, are supported by quality assurance systems, policies and have access to specialist housing, financial and Human Resource support at Family Housing Association.
Our support services are funded primarily through Supporting People Programme Grant although we also receive funding from ABMU Health Board. Tenants are responsible for their accommodation costs and are usually able to claim Housing Benefit towards these.
We are registered with CIW (Care Inspectorate Wales) to provide domiciliary care which allows us to provide any care services our tenants needs without them needing to bring in another provider unless they choose to do so.
We can only accept applications for our support accommodation via the Oasis project. The Oasis Project is co-ordinated by the City and County of Swansea and organises referrals to supported housing for people with mental ill health. Anyone who needs accommodation must discuss this with his or hers care co-ordinator.
Applications for our care services must be made through the City and County of Swansea social services department.
Before agreeing to provide a service we will carry out an assessment to make sure we can meet the applicant's needs.
