Chris Randall, Head of Service, Finance & I.C.T.

After university Chris qualified as an accountant before moving into retail. Chris has gained experience in a number of senior finance roles both in retail and in other sectors before joining Family Housing in July 2018.

Chris is looking forward to joining our family and being part of our strong Leadership team.

Farid Ali, Head of Service, Governance & Company Secretary

Farid began his career in one of the largest housing associations in Wales, straight out of university and has never looked back. Having gained over 14 years’ experience and a number of sector recognised qualifications, his interest is in strong governance and tenant engagement. Since joining FHA, he has become part of the fabric of the organisation particularly through the transitions FHA has gone through. Farid’s expertise has extended out of the office and into the community and has served on a Regional Equality Council Board of Management and now plays a leading role in the management of a local city charity.

Jason Smith, Head of Service, Care & Support

Jason has worked in the Health and Social care sector for over 10 years and joined Family Housing in 2016.  Jason started his career as an apprentice and has worked for the NHS as well as a number of local and national charities.

Jason has held a range of frontline, leadership and development roles across a range of social care sectors, including services in substance misuse, criminal justice, learning disabilities, older persons and volunteering.  In addition to his employment, Jason has previously been a director for a local social enterprise and is currently a board member of Cymorth

Jon Harvey, Head of Service, Development

Jon, a Town Planner by profession started his career in Local Government where he worked for 12 years, his last position was heading up the Development Plans Team at the Vale of Glamorgan Council.

Jon left the public sector in 1996 to join Bellway Homes as their Regional Planner for Wales and the West of England and has held many influential positions since such as, setting up the Cardiff office of national planning consultancy Boyer Planning as their Wales Director, head of Bellway Homes Land Department, Persimmon Homes as Strategic Land Director for the East and West Wales Divisions and then Planning Manager for the West Wales Region. Jon has also run his own Planning and Development Consultancy

Outside of work, Jon is a Pembrokeshire County Councillor. He is also involved in organising many community events throughout the year as well as promoting live music gigs.

Joining Family Housing in April 2018, he is looking forward to the challenge of increasing the Associations housing stock through the acquisition and development of new sites throughout our operating region.


Stephen Evans, Head of Housing and Communities.

Steve joined Family Housing in April 2020. He has worked in Housing for over 20 years in a number of frontline, management and leadership roles in a variety of organisations in South Wales and the North of England, covering customer services, housing management, tenancy support and property services, as well as organisational development.

Steve is currently Chair of the Community Housing Cymru Welfare Reform Strategic Delivery Group, working closely with colleagues across Wales and the UK. He is currently a Trustee of Cardiff and the Vale Care and Repair and has previously held similar roles at other charitable organisations.

Stuart Thomas, Head of Service, Property & Estate Services

Stuart has worked in the Property sector for over 25 years. He joined Family Housing in 2001 working as Property Services Officer and then as Performance Improvement Manager before taking up the role of Property Services Manager in 2015.

Prior to joining FHA Stuart worked in both the private and public sectors in Commercial General Practice surveying and has held managerial and leadership roles in University Estate management and the Rent Officer Service

Vicky Nicholas, Head of Service HR, OD & Comms

Vicky is a Chartered member of the CIPD and has worked in a number of HR Management roles for over 15 years. She joined FHA just over 6 years ago as HR team manager and her role has recently expanded to incorporate the duties of the recently retired Head of HR.

Prior to joining FHA Vicky worked for a large Public Sector organisation where she has managed local HR teams and national Business Change projects across multiple sites.

Vicky was also a finalist for Best HR Professional - Public/Third Sector in the Wales HR Awards 2018!
