We are committed to keeping any information we hold about you secure. We endeavour to ensure that any information that you send to us also remains secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure of this data we have put in place physical, electronic and managerial procedures to help to safeguard and secure information we retain. We cannot accept responsibility for the security of any data sent to us via email unless steps are taken by you to secure or encrypt the data before sending it to us. Emails and attachments we send are scanned for viruses. No safeguards are 100% secure and, where appropriate, you should always carry out your own checks.

What we collect

We may collect information, such as the email addresses and telephone numbers you provide when you contact us online. This is used to help improve communication and/or the services we provide to you.

Protecting your personal information

The nature of our work means that we have to record a great deal of information about our tenants. We only ask you for information that we need to provide you with a service. We take utmost care to keep this information safe.

Your personal information is confidential

The law says that we must never disclose information about you to anyone else unless it is an emergency, or someone has a legal right to access it, for example, the Police. If we have to disclose information about you, we will try our best to contact you before we do this. However, in an emergency situation the need to disclose would come first in order to keep people safe.

You can ask to see the information we hold on you

You have the right to access files or other records containing information relating to:

  • Your present tenancy
  • Your past tenancies (up to six years)
  • Support plans

 The law is changing

From May 25, 2018, the law is changing to provide you with further protection. You can read more about this here: General Data Protection Regulation. Family Housing will review the way it manages your personal information with the new changes.
