Tenants' Panel
Family Housing Association Tenants' Panel has been running for approximately 12 years and was the first Tenants' Panel in the county. The panel has 25 members and meets with Officers of the Association every six weeks.
The panel discusses issues relating to all tenants and have been responsible for the introduction of a variety of measures including All Pay Cards, Introductory Tenancies and Decoration Vouchers. Incidentally, B&Q launched the voucher scheme nationally to landlords after our working with them on the scheme.
There is a permanent place on the Board for the Chair of the Panel. The Vice Chair has been a member of the Board for 19 years.
Panel members regularly receive organised training on various topics and attend the annual TPAS conference.
Tenants' Panel members are involved every year in judging of the annual gardening competition and participate in the annual golf competition. A prize giving social evening is held in September to which panel members and winners are invited.
Resident Groups
There are three constituted groups in operation.
- Traherne Court Residents' Association - Neath Abbey
- Ffynnon Las/Pant Glas Community Association - Ammanford
- Maes Gareth Edwards Residents' Association, GCG (made up of council tenants and FHA tenants)
All are very active in organising community events and Ffynnon Las/Pant Glas have been very successful in acquiring funding for many projects.
We also have a less formal social committee in one of the sheltered schemes who organise events for that particular scheme.
If you would like to become involved with the panel or have any issues you would like to raise, please contact us on info@fha-wales.com
