Gas Safety

If your home has gas central heating, this must, by law, have an annual safety check.  As well as making sure that there is no risk of carbon monoxide leaks, the boiler will also be checked to make sure that it is in good working order.  Our engineers will also check your smoke alarms at the same time.

We will send you an appointment in the post - the envelope will be marked:

"This is not a circular - important information about your home"

If you cannot be at home on the date or time given and wish to arrange an alternative date then please call 0845 702 3820.

We will also ask you to fill in a short questionnaire which will be entered into a prize draw.

Fire safety

All of our homes have smoke alarms. Get into the habit of testing your smoke alarm regularly to make sure they are working and so that all members of your family are familiar with the sound.

It's a good idea to make a fire escape plan so that everyone in your home knows how to get out in an emergency. You may also wish to choose a 'safe room' with a window where you can wait to be rescued and from where you can call the fire service.

The fire service offers a free fire safety check and advice. To book your free check                                  call 0800 169 1234.

If you live in a block of apartments you will be given an evacuation plan which you should follow if the alarms are sounded. Do not use the lift or you could be trapped.

crime prEvention

The 24 hour number for non-emergencies is 101

Use this to report low level incidents or anti-social behaviour.  If you suspect that someone is receiving or selling stolen property then you can also call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Most burglaries are not planned in advance - keep your home and possessions safe by keeping windows and doors locked - even when you are at home or in the garden - and using timer switches when you are out.
