Break-in and Criminal Damage
If your property is broken into by someone unknown, or if someone damages your home, please do the following.
- Report the incident to the police and ask for a crime reference number.
- If you discover the break-in during our office hours, contact us immediately on 0800 435223.
- If you discover the break-in when we are closed, and need help to make your home secure, contact our emergency
service on 0800 435223. Our contractor will treat such repairs as a priority and do the work within two hours.
Improving your home
If you want to make improvements to your home, such as laying a patio, fitting new kitchen units or fitting a
shower, you must contact us first. We will ask you for full details about what you want to do. We will then consider:
- Safety issues
- Whether the changes will affect the value of the property
- Whether the improvement will be suitable for other tenants in future
We will write to tell you whether we agree to the work. We will not increase your rent as a result of the
improvements. You will however be responsible for completing any work to a satisfactory standard approved by us. You
may be responsible for the future maintenance of the improvement unless we agree in writing to maintain it.
Adaptations for disabled people
If you or a member of your family have a disability, you may be able be able to get improvements and adaptations undertaken to your home. If you need a shower, a
stair lift or rails above your bath or bed, or other adaptation to help you live in your home, you should ask for our
advice. We will help you arrange this, and we may be able to assist with obtaining grants.
