Applying for Housing in Swansea or Neath Port Talbot
If you wish to apply for housing you will need to:
- Call into our office in Walter Road between 9.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m, Monday to Friday.
or
- Give our Tenancy Management Team a call on 01792 482702 or Freephone 0800 0213930
What happens next? An initial assessment will be carried out to see if you are eligible to come on to our waiting list. This can be carried out face-to-face or over the telephone. A further assessment may then be needed to confirm your details.
Due to the high demand for our properties, some waiting lists will already have reached the maximum number of applicants allowed on the list and these lists will be closed.
This means that we have more applicants than properties so we may not be able to help you and cannot therefore accept you on to our waiting lists at this time. If this happens you can always ring back on 0800 0213930 at a later date to check if the lists have re-opened.
If the lists are open for both the type of property you need and where you want to live, we will then take into account your current circumstances, and if you meet the criteria, you can be included onto our waiting list.
You do have the right to request a review of your application if you are dissatisfied with our decision and you can do this by putting your concerns in writing addressed to the
Housing Dept, Family Housing Association, 43 Walter Road, Swansea SA1 5PN
or by email to lettings@fha-wales.com
Once on the waiting lists
We have an on-going review of our waiting lists and you will be contacted approximately every 3 months to check if you are still in need of accommodation and whether your circumstances have changed in any way that may affect your application.
Our properties are offered to applicants in date order, this means that we operate a “first come first served” allocation process.
Any offer of accommodation will be made in writing to you with the all information you need.
If your circumstances change
You must inform us of any change in your circumstances. For example, any new telephone numbers, addresses, marital status, family members etc. By doing this it ensures that we have up-to-date information to support your application.
Swansea/Neath Port Talbot - Local Authority waiting lists :-
Please ensure that you are also registered with the local authority in your area. We offer 50% of our vacant properties to applicants who are registered with their local authority in Swansea and Neath Port Talbot.
